backstage: femme spring summer 2012: the story

“falling in love is a bad sign for designers. the next thing you know, they are doing floral and brighter than the sun colors”

I tweeted that around 3 months ago and people thought i was mocking Philo.

Obviously, I was talking about myself.

I love to translate whatever I am feeling at that moment into a collection for NIKICIO. I remember once that Andy Warhol said that getting personal for branding is a mistake – I beg to differ. I have nothing but honesty to offer for the brand and I would like my customers to feel the sincerity that my team and I have been injecting into the work.

DEW

If you asked me personally and truthfully, am I proud being an Indonesian?
Probably I cant answer that in such politically correct manner without hurting the president’s feelings (but then again maybe I should, so he could publish another song).
And then came a tag in facebook from DEW MAGAZINE. An online magazine made and curated by Indonesian with Indonesian superb talents contributing for the magazine. Why? Because the magazine is THAT GOOD. It is an honor to be able to contribute in every DEW edition and I must tell you that there is only a speck of editorials in printed local magazine is THIS GOOD.
Now before I got shoot in the head …
See what I mean?

backstage le printemps 2012: the story

” A laid back skater girl with effortless style, a nomad, a light-traveller – a collection for the coolest people with the coolest style”

It was 9.45 am in the morning, the morning presentation was about to start.

I lighted my cigarettes and squatted down, checking all the socks and shoes. I can hear myself screaming to my assistant, “Where’s the necklaces for Renata?” “This ring doesn’t work, where are the others?”  As one of my best friend told me before, I always turned into a bitchy little designer backstage.

The models, however, looked extra calm and smiling from ear to ear. Drina, in particular, looked super excited because the venue was full of people. I peeked, lighted another cigs, and squatted down. If I were pregnant that point, I think I would gave birth out of panic. The show director was screaming over walkie talkie, counting down. One of my assistants ran backstage telling me my boyfriend’s family just came, 2 minutes before the show starts, and there were no seats left. It was chaos. And before i knew it, all the important guests were seated, 19 looks were shown, and it was over.

But you know, next year it will be the same story all over again.

And I enjoy every minute of it. I hope you guys too and see you again next year.
